The Thrift Store in Whitneyville, PA is one of three Thrift Stores in Pennsylvania. The other two stores are in Genesee, in Potter County, and in Port Allegany, in McKean County. Our Thrift Store was started in April 1998 and has been running now for abour 4 years. The Thrift Stores are all non-profit organizations, therefore all the proceeds from the stores benefit the Northern Tier Childrens Home in Harrison Valley, PA. To find out more information on what the Children's Home does, click here. The idea of the Thrift Stores was started by Ivan Gehman as a way to give funding for the Children's Home for expenses such as furniture, appliances, and other things for the children at the Home. Since the number of children from Tioga County needing help from the Home became greater, Mr. Gehman decided it would be beneficial to start a Thrift Store right here in Tioga County.
